Which is why there will be a 'second' Android frontend this time in Java. Which is why we did a native OSX port that looks and feels like an OSX app.

Which is why we're ditching Phoenix now for Windows menubars like SNES9x Win32. Instead, it takes a certain special kind of guy (like me) to prostitute himself in front of users and give you guys (indeed) more or less what you want. Maister has NOT been driven away and is as active as ever but he just doesn't want to deal with the job of maintaining when lots of scum users think you need to cater to every single entitled issue they care about. So yeah, in the interest of reducing his stress levels and because he self-admittedly held back the project on certain things like native GUIs and the like - he transferred RetroArch to the libretro organization and instead does bleeding-edge backend work in his branch. Maister just gets stressed out when he is given the task of maintainer status - something which isn't helped by lots of shitposting and entitlement issues going around on various forums and boards (including at times this one). It's only the odd emulator author who wants to NIH his way to heaven and doesn't want to adopt anything he didn't write himself. And it is proposing just that for an emulator/game API, it is proposing just that for a shader spec, and in most cases it does an exceptionally good job at that. If there is any 'project' aiming at something like an 'universal standard' for emulation, then that project is RetroArch. The Cg-to-GLSL script converts all Cg shaders to GLSL anyway - so what is there to complain about? So really, this 'migration' from GLSL XML to Cg is not a 'migration' - Cg has always been the primary spec.

And that is just the kind of 'friend' who likes to 'kill off' a spec for no particular reason other than that his autistic 'NIH' vibes are being tickled. Unfortunately, maister was somehow friendly to byuu all this time and therefore he kept the bSNES XML spec alive.

It has always been there and I have always used it by default on the PS3 port - and OV2 uses it as well for SNES9x Win32. The Cg shader spec has existed since - get this - AT LEAST 2010. I don't know what you guys are talking about. The bough-off press is never going to do a backlash against Android/Google and start telling the truth (game developers rather hide behind the excuse 'Android has lots of piracy), so I might as well be the one initiating this backlash. They can start out with this thing right here.

So - the new course of action - agitate against Google and Android - tell everybody how crap it is - including on the Store - get them so riled up until Dianne Hackborn gets off her smelly ass and starts fixing this shit. It is an absolute nightmare scenario to me. Right now the Android port of RetroArch is giving RetroArch a bad name - if they run it on a device that is crap and has a sub-60Hz screen, then they associate it with crackling sound. Then again, I am maintainer now but if we have to go to the length of throwing auto frameskip in because Android can't maintain decent audio/video sync - that would just make RetroArch be as bad as Robert Shitlia's ports. And it can create a lot of false positives. Maister doesn't want to do auto frameskip.
